Product and Component Testing Services

Product and component testing services is the evaluation of a finished product or component through performance in electrical, life, environmental exposure, dynamic, ergonomic or other specialized tests.  Also testing to standards such as UL 489, CE, ISO or MIL-STD 810.  Typically a battery of tests is employed in the evaluation process.   Capabilities and services, products tested and certifications and approvals are all important considerations when specifying providers of product testing services.

Common capabilities of providers of product testing services include product comparisons, test development, in-process or in-line testing, online documentation or reports, testing, evaluation and analysis, certification, research and development, training, troubleshooting or FEMA, and testimonials.  Common services that are offered by providers of product testing services include abrasion or wear testing, acoustic testing, aging testing, chemical compatibility testing, corrosion testing, creep testing, design verification testing, product safety or liability testing, electrical characteristics testing, electromagnetic compatibility testing (EMC), engineering verification testing, environmental exposure testing, ergonomics or usability testing, fatigue or cyclic load testing, field application simulation testing, fire characteristics testing, functional or ATE (automated test equipment) testing, leak or seal testing, mechanical or structural (including static load and stress) testing, optical product testing, performance testing, physical properties testing, reliability and robustness testing, seismic or NEBS testing, thermal characteristics testing, toxicity testing, and vibrational or shock drop testing.
